Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in the state said 10 people were killed and that 15 others were injured.
No fewer than 10 persons have been killed after a truck crashed into several vehicles near Jos, the capital of Plateau State, SaharaReporters learnt.
An eyewitness, Sani Babale said the accident occurred when the brakes of the haulage truck failed. According to him, the heavy truck rammed into 10 vehicles along Bauch-Jos Road on Thursday, killing about 20 persons.
However, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in the state said 10 people were killed and that 15 others were injured.
“We counted three tricycles and seven cars crushed by the truck. Five people were crushed beyond recognition. Altogether, I personally counted 17 bodies, besides three who later died on the way to the hospital,” Babale said.
Babale noted that one of the truck’s tyres came off and hit several pedestrians.
The FRSC said the accident occurred after the truck driver lost control, but denied that 20 persons died.
The spokesperson for the FRSC in Plateau State, Alphonso Godwin said, “10 people died and 15 others were injured.”
