Henry Chukwuneku Okamaru, popularly known as Lawrence Ik Okamaru, wanted for the 2,000.6 kg of cannabis sativa seized from a concrete mixer truck in Adamawa state on December 2, 2021, has been arrested in Ondo state after five months persecution by agents of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

Investigations revealed that Okamaru is one of the leaders of a cannabis cultivation cartel operating on the Ondo-Ekiti axis, as he travels between Osun, Ondo, Ekiti, Edo and Delta states from where he coordinates the supply of illicit shipments to the northern parts of the country. country and Lagos state.
“The drug lord has also been identified as a member of an international drug trafficking network, while traveling between Nigeria and South Africa, where he settles his family,” Babafemi said in the statement. “It has strong control and involvement in cannabis cultivation in Ondo, Edo, Ekiti, Osun and Oyo states with large storage facilities in Lagos and Abbi in Delta state from where its shipments are distributed throughout the year” .
Meanwhile, a 36-year-old Nigerian residing in Italy, Nwakanma Michael Uche, was arrested at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, NAIA Abuja, for ingesting heroin pellets.
Nwakanma, a native of Arondizuogu Village, Imo State Ideate Council, was caught while trying to board the Air France airline on the Abuja-Paris-Milan route, Italy, on Sunday, May 15, 2022. Thereafter, he was kept under observation during which he excreted 95 pellets of the illicit drug.

The store owner, Thaddeus Uliagbafusi, 58, was detained while a total of 130,670 tablets of various controlled drugs, 1,396 ampoules of injectable pentazocine and 743 vials of codeine were recovered from a secret drug repackaging location.
This followed a similar raid on a drug store operated by Ms. Christianah Gabriel, 53, in Uromi, Esan North East LGA, Edo State, who was arrested with 25kg of cannabis.
While officers seized 15,000 pentazocine injection vials in Kaduna along the Abuja-Kaduna express highway, 12,500 diazepam tablets were intercepted along the Okene-Abuja highway on Thursday, May 26.
