Mark D Ball Basketball Championship initiator Igoche Mark has said much remains to be done to raise the level of elite and grassroots basketball in Nigeria.

Mark, who praised the players and coaches for their sportsmanship at the ongoing Men’s Mark D Ball Basketball Championship Final Eight being held at MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja, called on more basketball-loving Nigerians to host the game. in its various regions.

He said the inactivity that has engulfed basketball’s fortunes since 2017 at the grassroots level has affected the dunk game.

Speaking yesterday at Elite 8, at the Indoor Sports Hall, Package B at the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, Mark reaffirmed his commitment to invest more time and resources in developing all aspects of the dunk game.

“I am very happy with everything that I have seen, but I am not satisfied with the level of our basketball at the moment, and this is a reminder to myself and all genuine stakeholders of the game that we have more to do to bring all aspects of the game, to an appreciable level,” he said.

Mark also praised coach Ime Udoka for leading the Boston Celtics to the NBA Finals despite losing to the Golden State Warriors 103-90.

“I won’t need much science to know that Udoka’s manual work, dedication, tenacity and zeal got him here. I remember in January the Celtics were 18-21, 11th in the Eastern Conference, but he got them to the NBA Finals. Udoka is my MVP,” said Mark.
