The presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has fixed today, Thursday, to present former Governor of Borno State, Senator Kashim Shettima, as his substantive running mate to the party’s leadership.
Naija News reports that this was made known in a statement on Wednesday night by the spokesman for the Bola Tinubu Campaign Organisation, Bayo Onanuga.
The former Borno Governor will be officially announced as the party’s running mate by 1.00 pm at the APC secretariat in Abuja.
Recall that Tinubu’s choice to pick Senator Kashim Shettima as his running mate for the 2023 general election, which means the APC will be fielding a Muslim-Muslim ticket, has drawn widespread criticism from concerned Nigerians, religious leaders, opposition parties, and the Christian Association of Nigeria.
Despite the condemnation, Tinubu’s camp has insisted the former Lagos State Governor would not be pressured into abandoning Shettima as his vice presidential candidate.
